Phil Cotton is an artist/educator, visual designer, and practicing multimedia artist. He is driven by his endless curiosity about how to better serve people who have limited resources; through the use of innovative design, developing creative environments for public use, utilizing green and solar technology, engaging expansive positive visual images and the development of a broader more encompassing global and local understanding of our purpose in this world. Although the images and subjects of his art and design practice are diverse; the influences and subject matter originate and are inspired by the 1950’s abstract expressionist movement and the architectural/designs of the Mid-Century Modern/Bauhaus period. His contemporary art/design practice consists of organic and architectural images and products that respond to his observations of historical and present moments in time and the current state of our ever-changing complex society.
